New York Inmate Families

New York Inmate Families (www.newyorkinmatefamilies.org) is a wonderful website for support, information, community, announcements and sharing about prison and our lives as NYS prison families. It was started years ago by a Louisiana woman whose family member was in prison in NYS. She wanted to communicate with other prison family members between her visits to New York. The idea caught on fast and our community was created.

Anyone who has a loved one in a New York State prison is welcome to join. Please read the guidelines and requirements. This is not a site for professionals or others who do not have loved ones in NYS prisons. Members must include an email address and a location in their profile. We expect confidentiality on the site--real names are not needed, but many of us do in fact become close, visit, attend retreats and other events together and promote a collective voice for progressive criminal justice change.
